Bio

Carlos D. Richardson Carlos Richardson and was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan and lived between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Michigan until he was ten years old. Carlos completed elementary, junior high and high school in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation he attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he graduated in 2000 with a degree in International Studies/Political Science. Upon graduation from Indiana University of Pennsylvania he moved to Washington DC in January, 2001. In 2006 he received a Master’s degree in Education (Teaching) from American University. He is currently a doctoral candidate at Bowie State University where he is pursuing a doctorate in Educational Administration & Leadership. Since moving to Washington, DC area he has held a variety of jobs before settling in his current job at Friendship Collegiate Academy. Carlos has worked for Friendship Public Charter Schools for 17 years where he teaches and has taught Social Studies courses including American Government, Economics, United States History, Ancient World History, Modern World History, Latin and more. Over the years he was promoted to Lead Teacher over the Arts & Communications Academy, Social Studies Subject Area Supervisor for Friendship Public Charter Schools where he supervised Social Studies teachers within FPCS grades 6-12 as well as being promoted to Vice Principal at Friendship Collegiate Academy. He strongly believes in out of school time learning and has for years has served in a variety of summer leadership roles such as Summer School Principal, Summer Bridge Principal and for the last 10 years as the Extended Learning Coordinator and Summer Enrichment Coordinator at Friendship Collegiate Academy. In 2014 Carlos was named Friendship Public Charter Schools Teacher of the Year as well as Washington, DC Public Charter Schools Teacher of the Year. Carlos was a top Cross Country runner in high school and is a member of the organization Black Men Run. Carlos is the Cross Country coach at Friendship Collegiate Academy. Some of Carlos’ hobbies include reading biographies, novels and political related books. Carlos enjoys traveling all over United States and abroad. He loves learning about new cultures and meeting new people. Carlos has a great interest in music, collecting music and going to music concerts as well as other forms of the arts.
